I have Exchange 2003 in my domain, and I’m running out of storage. I have done 2 defragments for the databases already (I did that on another computer by copying the edb and stm files, defragment them and then move them back to place). But now I’m running out of space again. I have no room for HDD additions (have 6 SCSI mirrored HDDs). What I want to do is build another temporary Exchange server, move the databases and put it online then go back to my, now offline, original Exchange server and change the mirror RAID to RAID 5. Then move everything back to it’s original place. Parallel to that, I’ll start an archiving policy for users to archive old emails in a network share.
Now, my question is simply, is that possible?
